anthony yates Posted 16 March , 2019 Share Posted 16 March , 2019 I HAVE SOME WAR DIARIES CONTAINING A LABOUR CORPS UNIT (136) I HAE BEEN RESEARCHING. IN ITS MOVEMENTS THE WAR DIARY STATES; arrd.27/.p.27.cent (31.group) from 27/v.s.cent.(5,group) Is this the location from and the location to? If any body can help would appreciate it,or any info of the movement of 136 Labour Coy. Thanks Anthony
TEW Posted 17 March , 2019 Share Posted 17 March , 2019 P.27.cent could well be a map ref ie centre of square P.27. The arrd 27 could be arrived sheet 27 if there is such a sheet. Otherwise you have no sheet number. The v.s.cent makes less sense, the s should be a,b,c or d or a number. Can you provide snapshot if the text? EDWARD1 Posted 17 March , 2019 Share Posted 17 March , 2019 (edited) In most cases, which ever sheets the references apply, V27 Central is on the next sheet directly south of the sheet with a P27 Central and are 6000yds apart Edited 17 March , 2019 by EDWARD1
TEW Posted 17 March , 2019 Share Posted 17 March , 2019 Assuming it is sheet 27. P.27 central is SE of Cassel. Closest placename 'Koorten Loop'.Ditto for V.27. Central, SW outskirts of Hazebrouck. TEW
anthony yates Posted 30 September , 2019 Author Share Posted 30 September , 2019 Thanks to all the reply's..I've just got the hang of the military maps now and yes TEW my grandfather was stationed just outside Hazebrouck for some of the war . Appreciate all your replays. Anthony
