Schoolteacher Casualty Pte J.Edwards - which Staffordshire Regt ?

I've had no luck so far searching for a Pte J.Edwards who according to the NUT record was "Staffs".

How do GWF read this please ? Was he from Stafford ? According to the cwgc there are no candidates in the Staffordshire Regt or Yeomanry.

This leaves just a few James, John, Joseph and Jonathon in the North and South Regts so can anybody find any leads on this Liverpool schoolteacher ?
