ServiceRumDiluted Posted 11 March , 2019 Share Posted 11 March , 2019 (edited) It is probably a ballistic nose for a streamlined long range shell, a conical nose that screws on to the tip of the shell. A quick glance at 'notes on German shells' shows that most of these were in 15cm calibre. I have an example, which is 21cm long from tip to base and 9cm base diameter.
