Lovely  kit but will stick to my Lego Sopworth and that takes up a bit of room.

This fellow is on a totally different skill plane with respect to model construction.  I cannot imagine the extra planning, time and effort to create an animation of an already complex model.  Check out the Fokker Dr. I that is also a classic. 

 

A good friend has the kit from about 1980 and which is now about $750 Cdn.  It is available to me; however, I am quite sure my skill level is not  sufficient to create an error-free product.  Borden Battery

Yes, these little YouTube videos both entertain and provide a great deal of information on the internal design, structure and likely approach to construction.  Regarding the modeller, I put him in a league of his own with both his assembly skills and now his animation skills. Borden Battery

Hi Borden,

 

               Thank you. I thought I would mention that there is a gentleman who is slowly restoring a Sopwith Camel to flying status. This Camel has already appeared as a work in progress at the US EAA Air Show in Oshkosh Wisconsin which is not that far from your Regina location..

             The builder is a perfectionist who absolutely refuses to use any substitute modern parts and thus has spent beaucoup USD machine working required Camel parts to original specs. I believe he wants his eventually restored Camel to win Grand Champion at Oshkosh in about 2 years, which it likely will. (believe he had a YouTube re this) The owner of a Curtiss Jenny won Grand Champ by a very similar restoration route some years ago.  Thanks again.

Thanks. We are about the same distance away as New Hampshire - 875 miles. I wonder if this fellow will consider the Barker Camel as a possible candidate for its markings?

 

A bit off topic, but in Saskatchewan we have seen a Hawker Hurricane, a Lysander and a P-51 (Lou IV) restored to flying condition in the past few years - have seen all three of them.  Two additional P-51's and an Me-109 are works in progress and should be airworthy within 18-24-36 months.  No Great War aircraft to my knowledge, whereas as significant number of the BCATP airfields were located in Saskatchewan in WWII - hence the stronger interest in this later era.

            Good to hear about your Saskatchewan Me-109 in progress. I know there is one in Ottawa but I believe that upon completion yours will be the only flying in Canada??. There only about 20 worldwide surviving Me-109's and far fewer flying. The Duxford Museum Bf-109 is back flying after the pilot error crash. Prior to the crash I witnessed an airshow dog fight between a Hawker Hurricane and that 109. That was history in motion  Greetings to your Midwest   Ralph
