BillyH Posted 6 March , 2019 Share Posted 6 March , 2019 A clip is attached from the (burnt) service papers of a soldier who had suffered a Brain Haemorrhage due to a shell explosion. It appears to say : He is much more intelligent & (able?) to xxxxx all the ordinary things of life. Can anyone decipher the xxxxx please? BillyH. BillyH Posted 6 March , 2019 Author Share Posted 6 March , 2019 I'll happily go with that, but there isn't a 'd' at the end of the word! Just a case of doctor's handwriting I suppose? (Sorry DBS). BillyH.
seaJane Posted 6 March , 2019 Share Posted 6 March , 2019 If you look at the word "wasted" in the line above, it becomes evident that the writer uses a different form for d at the end of the word and d in the middle of the word. The former, he makes like a celtic d (reversed 6) with the loop open; in the latter, he brings the upstroke straight down to connect with the next letter.
