rmtruby Posted 26 January , 2005 Share Posted 26 January , 2005 I’ve recently been reading “Memories of West Bromwich” by Alton Douglas and Dennis Moore. On page 13 there is a photograph of the recruiting office personnel at Summerfield Court, Bratt Street, 1917. This prompted me to think whether there has been any research on compiling a list of all the recruiting offices in the Midlands. Was Summerfield Court the only recruiting office in the area? Who would be recruited there? Would different regiments have their own offices? Thanks Ray
rmtruby Posted 26 July , 2005 Author Share Posted 26 July , 2005 The Summerfield Court recruiting office would have been quite close to Christchurch, that was on the High Street. I was wondering whether a company may have been formed from that church AND does anybody know what happened to the memorial plaque from inside that church?
