The ship was only commissioned in March 1915 and he was thus part of its original crew. Ther were casualties at Jutland and the ship was holed about 150 times. He appears on the crew list https://www.jutlandcrewlists.org/warspite Acted as escort to The German Fleet as it went to Scapa Flow in November 1918. Warspite name was familiar because its on his medal and I saw that it was in Jutland alright but wasn't sure how is possible to confirm that he was there at that time. This original crew list is handy! Also HMS Watchman service looks fascinating - especially because he was from Co.Cork, he was on the Irish coast then on the same ship during the Irish Civil War! I am collecting mainly medals to the Irish units but somehow, but I picked up his LSGC medal (named to the same HMS Warspite) and also his BWM. His 15 Star and VM must be out there somewhere as well. Among with the same medal lot I got as well West and East Africa medal with "Benin 1897" clasp (HMS Phoebe) to another Cork man - 150965 George Williams. Looks like this other lad served as well during the WW1 and finished his service in the shore establishment "Colleen" 1919 when he was invalided. At that time already in Cork (known as "Rebel County") had lots of disturbances already. taking into consideration of his old age he must landed on fairly easy position there I guess.
