Guest Posted 4 March , 2019 Share Posted 4 March , 2019 This photograph shows Sir Henry Wilson, while Britain's Permanent Military Representative at Versailles (1917-18), and his staff. I can identify Leo Amery (front row, far left), and of course Wilson himself. Can anybody identify any of the others in the image? Thank you in advance. Uncle George Posted 4 March , 2019 Share Posted 4 March , 2019 What is this cap badge? It reminds me of a RN cap badge, but the officer is in an Army or RM uniform. Good monocle, though.

Uncle George Posted 5 March , 2019 Share Posted 5 March , 2019 (edited) The attached may be of help. It is from page 42 of C E Callwell’s ‘Field Marshal Sir Henry Wilson’ (1927): https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.38426 Edited 5 March , 2019 by Uncle George
Uncle George Posted 5 March , 2019 Share Posted 5 March , 2019 (edited) The attached is Sir Hereward Wake (from here https://www.britishempire.co.uk/forces/armyunits/britishinfantry/krrcwake.htm). From which we can say that he is the chap in the OP standing next to Amery. Edited 5 March , 2019 by Uncle George
Uncle George Posted 5 March , 2019 Share Posted 5 March , 2019 (edited) And the attached (from Wikipedia) is Sir Frederick Sykes. Standing far right in the OP photo, it would seem. Not Hankey, in which case. Edited 5 March , 2019 by Uncle George
Uncle George Posted 5 March , 2019 Share Posted 5 March , 2019 (edited) From the attached (which is from here: http://rgjmuseum.co.uk/photo-archive-item/supreme-war-council/) we can see that the chap standing next to Wilson in the OP is Sir Charles Sackville-West. I would guess that Major P.J.R.Currie in the OP is standing on Wilson’s left. Edited 5 March , 2019 by Uncle George
Uncle George Posted 5 March , 2019 Share Posted 5 March , 2019 “Colonel H.W. Studd” of post #10 was Herbert William Studd, Coldstream Guards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_Studd He can be seen in the attached. Is he the Colonel in the OP, standing front row, second right? Dunno.
