John P. Moore Posted 2 March , 2019 Share Posted 2 March , 2019 Last June I drove across northern France visiting the American cemeteries of the Somme, Oise-Aisne, Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel and the very large Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery. It was very worthwhile to visit those cemeteries as well as nearby monuments and battlefields. I put this video together highlighting the Medal of Honor holder graves. NigelS Posted 5 March , 2019 Share Posted 5 March , 2019 Thanks John, brought back memories of a visit to Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery last October. I took this photo of Cpl. Freddie Stowers' headstone because of the colour in the wreath on an otherwise dull day completely unaware of the story behind the belated award of his Medal of Honor some 73 years after his death in action until later. Unfortunately, I've no idea why the wreath had been laid, as there was no dedication; I may be wrong, but having been taken nearly a month after the centenary of his death, it looks too fresh to have been placed then.
