PrussianGarde Posted 27 February , 2019 Share Posted 27 February , 2019 I’m thinking about buying an iron cross and I found 2 that stand out, what do you think?
Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 27 February , 2019 Share Posted 27 February , 2019 Dear PrussianGarde, If you want it, buy it! The 1914 EKII was issued liberally (ca. 5 1/2 million), but nonetheless remained a coveted award. Personally I prefer to collect 1) EKII groups, or 2) the somewhat more exclusive (but also liberally awarded: ca. 218.000 - mainly to Officers) EKI... Kindest regards, Kim. PrussianGarde Posted 27 February , 2019 Author Share Posted 27 February , 2019 (edited) Ok. I did find a medal bar with only 2 medals for 100 usd. Is that a good purchase? Also, what does the 800 marking mean? I’ve never seen it and is it rare? Edited 27 February , 2019 by PrussianGarde
Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 27 February , 2019 Share Posted 27 February , 2019 Dear PrussianGarde, Sure, for two reasons: 1) a hundred bucks is "peanuts" in the medal-collecting game; and, more importantly, 2) as far as I can see, the group of two (EKII and Hindenburgkreuz) is an example of a "Frackspange", to be worn with evening attire, with the highest award uppermost. Kindest regards, Kim.
