Remembered Today:

Shooting medal fob?

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi

I believe this to be a silver shooting medal fob. It was in my dad's possessions but think it may have belonged to his dad who was in the navy in WW1. Not engraved

Does the crown in top mean anything? Military? Any idea of its approximate date?

Many thanks

K

Dunno if this helps, but in the 1960s CCF, a sleeve badge with crossed rifles and a crown denoted Marksman (test score 77/80) status. Rifleman First Class (test score 73/80)  was crossed rifles and a star, Rifleman Second Class was just crossed rifles (don't remember the required score).

Crown looks very much like a pre 52 kings crown, but without any hallmarks not easy to date...sorry.

Dave.
