LizM Posted 23 January , 2005 Share Posted 23 January , 2005 Hi all I am looking for information on a Thomas Hicks who apparently served with the Royal Horse Artillery. Does anyone have any information on where the Regiment fought from 1916-1918. Many Thanks Jonathon
Wienand Drenth Posted 23 January , 2005 Share Posted 23 January , 2005 Hello Jonathon, The Royal Horse Artillery was not a regiment in the sense of a tactical formation. The Royal Horse Artillery consisted of some 26+ lettered batteries, and 14 batteries in the Territorial Force. The batteries were obviously attached to cavalry brigades (or mounted brigades in case of TF), and grouped into Brigades of three batteries (more or less). I think they fought on practically every theater. You can check the Royal Horse Artillery page on this site. So, to find out more about the battery your man was in, you might want to find out on what theater he served. Hope this will put you in the right direction. Regards, Wienand
