Darryl Hudson Posted 18 February , 2019 Share Posted 18 February , 2019 Hi folks, I'm looking for some advice or help please. My person of interest is Lance Sgt M Smithwick 6085 South African Expeditionary Force listed as 'Wounded' in the casualty list 1st August 1916 for France and Flanders but I can't seem to find any mention of him in medal rolls or further records. Any help in where I can find out more would be appreciated . thanks Darryl ,Glasgow

Darryl Hudson Posted 18 February , 2019 Author Share Posted 18 February , 2019 Hi, thanks for looking it up for me. That is his brother Matthew Bernard Smithwick ( who also served in the Boer War). thanks for the link/info, Darryl

MaxD Posted 18 February , 2019 Share Posted 18 February , 2019 His brother comes up in British records because he ended up in a British unit, the East Africa Labour Corps. If M Smithwick served exclusively with a SA unit then his records are not with British ones but are in SA. Max
