Remembered Today:

Michael Pegum

Grave at Sailly-sur-la-Lys Canadian Cemetery

I am interested in Acting Corporal Charles Jordan, No 1835 or 1855, 1st/4th K.O.Y.L.I., who died of wounds on 26/5/1915, and is buried in Sailly-sur-la-Lys Canadian Cemetery (II.E.100) under the name of '1835 Charles Jordon'.

The burial record, which gives the number as 1855, has the spelling error corrected in ink, and I wonder if anyone has a photo of the grave marker. I want to see if the error is on it, as well.

Michael, I don’t have any photographic evidence to offer but the Headstone Inscrition report gives 1835 Jordon. This suggests this is what will appear on the headstone itself.

Many thanks, Graeme. I'll take it up with the CWGC.
