Trooper B Posted 4 February , 2019 Share Posted 4 February , 2019 (edited) Hi all, New to the forum so forgive me for any obvious blunders! I have a 1908 pattern cavalry sword that has the regimental markings 3 CLY. I take this to be 3rd County of London Yeomanry. I understand that this regiment were known as sharpshooters so my question is, did mounted yeomanry regiments armed with firearms also carry swords......or have I got it all wrong! RGJDEE Posted 7 February , 2019 Share Posted 7 February , 2019 Sorry I can’t help you Trooper, but you attracted a sword novice ! Though sadly not an expert. The cavalry swords are rather desirable, any chance of a photo or two ? regards Richard.

Trooper B Posted 7 February , 2019 Author Share Posted 7 February , 2019 Thanks for the picture and info Jools, I have been searching for pictures for some time. Any idea as to the regiment pictured? RGJDEE, I’ll try and take some pictures over the weekend, I have 3 P08 cavalry swords and sold an IP08 to a guy in Texas last year.

Trooper B Posted 9 February , 2019 Author Share Posted 9 February , 2019 Hi all, I have tried to get some piccies of my 3 PO8’s, please feel free to comment. One is marked 3 CLY, one (faintly) Worc Yeo 209 and the third with the frog attached is unmarked or hidden by paint. They’re not perfect but all of the blades are good............andI like them! Jools mckenna Posted 9 February , 2019 Share Posted 9 February , 2019 Nice swords, the nicest, in my opinion, is definitely the 3.C.L.Y one because it isn't painted.
trajan Posted 10 February , 2019 Share Posted 10 February , 2019 Not my thing to be honest but all very nice looking - espcially that frog... Is that the normal pattern?
RGJDEE Posted 10 February , 2019 Share Posted 10 February , 2019 Very nice pieces, most desirable, nice mix of makers, regards Richard.
Trooper B Posted 10 February , 2019 Author Share Posted 10 February , 2019 Hi Trajan, I believe this is the correct frog........ although as a newbie I am prepared to be told otherwise. It was my first puchse and to be fair I then went off at a tangent and purchased bayonets, webbing, helmets, knives and sniper shields etc!!!! I am currently trying to decide which route to concentrate on, it’s a ****** trying to decide!
