Ian Burns Posted 29 January , 2019 Share Posted 29 January , 2019 In researching RN ships in E Med and Red Sea during WW1 I have encountered the term Seedie Boys several times. The context appears to be employment of Lascar or Egyptian hands. Can anyone clarify the use of the term which appears to have been in general RN use during the period. Ian Burns Posted 29 January , 2019 Author Share Posted 29 January , 2019 Thanks Dave. The answer is a qualified yes. I like to be able to check wiki's sources. There are plenty attached to the article (In the verification box at the top) so I think it is kosher. ;-) It also fits with the vague clues in the records I have researched. Thanks for the reply.
