This came with a box of relics that had been collected 20 years  ago no date on it. Is it possible to say if it’s ww1 0r ww2 can one tell from the handle attachement .? If it’s ww1 it came from Boesinger

From what I've seen only about 25% have makers names and dates visible after 100 years. Many probably didn't have a date in the first place.

That is a british e tool piece that would be built with 2 pieces. The metal trenching part, what you have, and a wood handle piece. This is a ww1 piece.

The wood handle in normally called the "helve" and carried by a special web or leather strap off the bayonet frog and bayonet scabbard. This example of the head, still has the remnant of the metal fitting of the helve still in place, so the tool was assembled when it was buried.

Cheers
