58 Div Mule Posted 28 January , 2019 Share Posted 28 January , 2019 I'm sure others will know more but I think the K boats had a poor track record with a number being sunk in accidents etc.?
Hyacinth1326 Posted 30 January , 2019 Share Posted 30 January , 2019 (edited) A book has been written on the 'K' boats by Don Everitt which is well worth reading. There is also a more recent book on the Battle of May Island. Several of those involved gave interviews to the Author and much of the material is not available in official records of the K13 rescue operation. The rescue succeeded (almost in spite of itself) but many of the trapped men feared that Admiralty would prioritise saving the integrity of the pressure hull over rescuing the men within. I have some photographs that were taken on the Gareloch at the time of the rescue operation. Edited 30 January , 2019 by Hyacinth1326
