Many thanks for dating, I'd seen some plain ribbon VC examples; 1 hour ago, Terry_Reeves said: The ribbon normally had a replica of the cross attached. TR Thanks Terry. I wondered if there were any similar ribbons, British or Allied, the VC could be confused with.

I wondered if there were any similar ribbons, British or Allied, the VC could be confused with. The Army LSGC medal was also plain crimson until 1917 (when the two end stripes were added to help distinguish it from similar ribbons like the VC). The Army MSM was plain crimson as well until 1916. I would say it's impossible to be sure it is the pre-1917 VC ribbon or otherwise without corroborating evidence: Edited 25 January , 2019 by Andrew Upton

BullerTurner Posted 14 February , 2019 Share Posted 14 February , 2019 As an ex-Gunner, who lived in Hampshire, I took an interest, GWF1967! When the new memorial was installed, in 2000 or 2001, many members of 10 (Assaye) AD Bay, the descendant battery, attended. One of the most distinguished batteries in the Royal Regiment...
