A trawl through LLT and many threads here connect Section B Army Reserve with regulars, most though related to pre-war service.  A man with no surviving service record has, on his medal roll entry "Sec B AR 28 4 19" nothing more.

Can I take it that indicates clearly that he had served on a regular engagement?

As far as I'm aware all eligible men under the MSA 1916 were engaged in the Section B reserve until such time as they were called up for active service. If I recall correctly they could be released back to the Section B reserve (all not sure why you'd need to) rather than be released under discharge or to one of the other reserve classes. That being said by April 1919 I'd imagine the only people who be discharged to a Section B reserve were time served soldiers entering their reserve commitment.,

Who is the man ?

Thanks Craig.

Scalyback - thanks also.  My aim here was to see whether that reserve commitment shed any light at all on the puzzle we and others have sweated blood over - I think not

If anything, it seems to add something else to the puzzle.

Craig -  I feared it might -  if a conscript then no service before 1916, if a regular engagement when signed up - too many disconnected jigsaw pieces!
