Remembered Today:

Register Of Soldier's Effects

Have come across the following under date and place of death on the Register of Soldier's Effects:

22.3.1918 Vide A.F.B 200 & 2090 C.

Anybody any idea what this stands for? It is not an isolated case as it appears in quite a few records. I think it may be a reference to a clause when exact place of death is unknown.

Would be grateful if anyone can clarify.

Can you post the relevant part of the record so I can see. Theses forms aren't typically noted on the effects - you sometimes see runs of records with extra notes, it was probably a clerk working through a particular list of records.

A(rmy) F(orm) B200 and (B)2090C.

B200 shows a summary of the service.

The B2090 was a death report.

Vide. is latin for 'see'. The entry lists the date of death and then notes to see the B200 etc for proof.

I suspect that it was the quirk of a particular clerk unless there was something odd about those deaths.

Thanks Craig, there doesn't appear to be anything odd about the circumstances. A couple of others on the same page have the same entry. As you say, could be a quirk of the Clerk completing the register.
