droptank Posted 18 January , 2019 Share Posted 18 January , 2019 Could someone look into the career of Bert please? He was born on June 7th 1892, He attested into the London Brigade in 1909, went into the RHA as #831 in 1911 and eventually was commissioned. I also believe he was MiD'ed. Thank you. George Rayner Posted 18 January , 2019 Share Posted 18 January , 2019 (edited) After previous erroneous answers I'm being more careful... did he die Sept 1918? (Cambridgeshire/Suffolk Regiments) or joined London Brigade TF in 1909 and bought himself out and rejoined in 1911 but discharged in 1916 at termination of engagement, or wounded October 1917? droptank Posted 18 January , 2019 Author Share Posted 18 January , 2019 From what I know, I'd go with the second option, thanks.
ForeignGong Posted 19 January , 2019 Share Posted 19 January , 2019 I can only find this Bertram Walter Carter commission, https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/30051/supplement/4326 To be Lt. https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/31056/supplement/14551 Resigns commission. https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/32382/supplement/5456 The MIC doesn't have 2Lt or Lt in the rank section, I would think he never went into a theatre of war after commissioning, I may be wrong, someone else may have more info. Admin DavidOwen Posted 19 January , 2019 Admin Share Posted 19 January , 2019 There is only one officer file under Bertram Walter Carter so I am thinking it could be his? http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C682757 (A visit or a researcher is needed to access it, the researcher I use is not expensive).
