alvic25 Posted 18 January , 2019 Posted 18 January , 2019 (edited) I have been trying to find the location & details of where an action occurred involving the 142nd Labour Company, Labour Corps, on Sunday 3rd June, 1917, when casualties were sustained, the following were all previous members of the 4th Infantry Labour Company of The Northamptonshire Regiment. I am interested in Pte Sidney Ernest Clubb , no. 84669, Who was wounded in action with gunshot wounds on that day, but recovered well , as he is noted as guarding prisoners 3 months afterwards on his Service Record, but the location of his wounding is only given as "In The Field". Looking through SDGW at random & to try and get an insight to the action, I see that on the same day, there were at least 3 other 142nd men,( all with service records), Killed in Action /Died of Wounds - again stated as occurring "In the Field" - no actual location & all were still with the same Company, before 3rd June, not having been transferred into any other Companies or Units, so the action on that date must have been quite significant to include just these few initially randomly chosen casualties & obviously occurring after the Battle of Arras had ended. Two of the fatal casualties 84692 Pte William John Crease & 84616 Pte Arthur William Banks were buried at Faubourg D'Amiens Cemetery, near Arras & 84610 Pte Henry Charles Alford, was buried at nearby Duisans British Cemetery, so am assuming they fell somewhere near to Arras, but am unable to find anything online. Out of interest, has anyone any knowledge of the remains of the Company going on to serve in the Battle of Cambrai , also is there any information about 208TH POW Coy, Labour Corps - I notice that some 142nd men transferred to this Company on 28th Dec 1918. Any information about the above would be most appreciated. Many Thanks Rob Edited 19 January , 2019 by alvic25
