Jim Mitchell Posted 17 January , 2019 Share Posted 17 January , 2019 (edited) Hi all, I am looking for any information on my great Grandfather Fred/Frederick Goodman. He was a private in the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Reg No 2743. He was discharged 25/8/1916. There is a reference to him on ancestry in the Pensions Ledgers and index but I can`t access it. any help would be greatly appreciated, In particular any accurate reference to his date of birth as we have conflicting dates on our records. He lived in Stainforth, Doncaster. Best regards and thank you in anticipation. Edited 18 January , 2019 by Jim Mitchell
roughdiamond Posted 17 January , 2019 Share Posted 17 January , 2019 Many libraries have access to Ancestry or you can take a free trial, forum rules prohibit requesting Ancestry or any other pay per use sites look ups or forum members posting info from such requests. clk Posted 17 January , 2019 Share Posted 17 January , 2019 Hi, I think that it's one on the new records on Ancestry that redirects you to Fold3, where you have to have a membership to view it. I believe that Fold3 free trials are also available, but don't think that UK libraries will have access. A subscription to the Western Front Association (who rescued the records prior to digitalisation) would also give access without an enhanced Ancestry/Fold3 membership.
