davidbohl Posted 16 January , 2019 Share Posted 16 January , 2019 Just reading this article in the Echo on Liverpool schoolteacher Capt C.C.H.Lewin MC, a chilling read about a very unfortunate family. I can't find the original publication on British Newspaper Archive for the clip dated 29th Nov 1918 that is contained in this very informative webpage http://westfrontassoc.mtcdevserver.com/great-war-people/brothers-arms/801-brothers-in-arms-1.html#sthash.8p3mswFo.dpbs It has a very pixelated portrait of him, does anybody know where it came from please ? Many thanks Dave
George Rayner Posted 16 January , 2019 Share Posted 16 January , 2019 (edited) No image in 30 November 1918 - Bath Chronicle and Weekly Gazette - Bath, Somerset, or 29 November 1918 - Western Daily Press - Bristol, Bristol, England although full reports in them A report within this newspaper 28 August 1916 - Liverpool Daily Post - Liverpool, Lancashire, England when he received award. There is a photo underneath which is of Captain Pease DSO. A confusion perhaps? George Edited 16 January , 2019 by George Rayner addition
Guest Posted 16 January , 2019 Share Posted 16 January , 2019 If you cannot get an answer via WFA, then the likeliest newspapers (as it is headed "Bristol and the War") and he was a Radstock man would appear to be: Somerset guardian and Radstock observer. 1894 to 1962 England Avon Radstock. The Somerset standard and Wilts and Dorset advertiser. 1886 to 1962 England Somerset Frome. Both are available through BL,so happy to look at the relevant issue, if necessary. Somerset Guardian is on microfilm and seems the more likely
