The fighting around Jasin, GEA, December 1914 - January 1915

This was an unsatisfactory battle for both sides, the British being rebuffed and surrendering forward positions, and the Germans losing key men mostly to the accuracy and fire discipline of Indian mountain gunners.  But the consequences for future German strategy and tactics make Jasin an intersting action to follow.

I did wonder why you didn't mention what Companies the Germans used in these battles, and only the British units?

 

But other wise great mate.

Thanks Steve and you are right.

This was written specifically for the Indian Military History Society's 2018 Journal commemorative issue and i concentrated on the Indian units and what their experiences were.

 

I should have made additions before showing it elsewhere.  I find that one of the biggest challenges about writing a readable and focused account of anything in Great War Africa is to decide what to leave out.

For this Forum I left out too much.  Apologies offered.
