bushfighter Posted 15 January , 2019 Share Posted 15 January , 2019 For those Members interested, my interpretation of events at Jasin is here: https://gweaa.com/home/theatres/east-africa-campaign/books-dealing-with-the-east-africa-campaign/the-fighting-around-jasin-1915-harry-fecitt/ This was an unsatisfactory battle for both sides, the British being rebuffed and surrendering forward positions, and the Germans losing key men mostly to the accuracy and fire discipline of Indian mountain gunners. But the consequences for future German strategy and tactics make Jasin an intersting action to follow. Harry
Guest Posted 19 January , 2019 Share Posted 19 January , 2019 Harry, As always your the man. I did wonder why you didn't mention what Companies the Germans used in these battles, and only the British units? But other wise great mate. bushfighter Posted 20 January , 2019 Author Share Posted 20 January , 2019 Thanks Steve and you are right. This was written specifically for the Indian Military History Society's 2018 Journal commemorative issue and i concentrated on the Indian units and what their experiences were. I should have made additions before showing it elsewhere. I find that one of the biggest challenges about writing a readable and focused account of anything in Great War Africa is to decide what to leave out. For this Forum I left out too much. Apologies offered. Harry
