Guest kevin387 Posted 15 November , 2002 Share Posted 15 November , 2002 I am trying (as I`m sure many people are) to identify the regiment my grandfather was in during WW1. I have very scant information which is as follows: 1. At the time of joining up he was living in North Wales. 2. He appears to have started the war in a mounted regiment. 3. He used to speak of having been in Egypt at some time during the war. 4. He lost an arm at either the Somme or Arras. Initial research seems to point to the Denbighshire Yeomanry later dismounted and moved to the Western Front in June 1918. Given the above very scant information, can anyone suggest any other unit or regiment which would fit the bill.
Chris_Baker Posted 15 November , 2002 Share Posted 15 November , 2002 The only waty to do this is by checking out the Medal Rolls etc at the Public Record Office. Go to The British Army in the Great War website and click on Researching a soldier.
