williywonker Posted 13 January , 2019 Share Posted 13 January , 2019 Hi everyone, I'm trying to identify the names of all 116 WO’s, NCO’s and men who were personally presented their DCM’s by the King during his visit to France in December 1914. After months searching war diaries, regimental histories and newspaper archives, I am frustratingly just 7 names short, but have been able to narrow down the possibilities to the 9 men listed below. I wonder if any forum member can help by letting me know if they have evidence that confirms any of these men were decorated by the King during this visit? Alternatively can any member confirm if any man from the below list had been wounded, POW, struck off the strength or discharged prior to the 1st December 1914, or indeed presented his DCM back in the UK later in the war. This would help me eliminate them. Please PM me if preferred NO NAME UNIT LG DATE 3572 SGT F. LANGFORD 5 DRAGOON GDS 22.10.14 10492 L/CPL J. DELANEY 2 ROYAL IRISH REGT 06.11.14 32430 FQMS H. J. S.
