Dear Members

Firstly, a Happy new year to everyone. Secondly could someone help regarding the above? He was born in Llanpumsaint, Carmarthenshire in 1895 and is on the !911 Census as Jeremy living at the "Grey Cow" pub in Carmarthen He was in the Royal Garrison Artillery, received  a British War Medal and Victory Medal and died in Swansea in 1951. One of the contributing factors to his death was Bronchitis caused by Gas in WW1. There is a pension ledger but I am not able to gain access to it. It would be interesting if I could find more details His number in the RGA was 118220.

                                            Regards

                                                 John White

You probably know that the Grey Cow was in John Street, round the back of Mark's, in the street where the Coracle Tavern is nowadays.

John, where does that number come from? Medals or documents you have seen?

I can only see 181220 on his MIC

No date of entry on the card, so he would have arrived overseas after 31/12/1915.

Edit: Nothing in the Service Records or Pension Records for him on Ancestry that I can see.

I don't have access to the ledgers either unfortunately.

Sorry the RGA Number is 181220. I remember the" Coracle" Whilst I was working in Carmarthen, market day was on Wednesday and the farmers would come into town, undertake their business and be legally  drinking at 7 30 in the morning at the "Coracle"!

Dear Members

I have received information from a relative of the above that he was gassed on  June 28th June 1918. He had been on the Western front for about 4 months. The news was reported in the Carmarthen Journal. What division was his battery attached to?

                                        Regards

Dear Members

Maybe it was the action at La Becque.

                                   Regards
