I came across these accounts of two bands of Birmingham brothers, to whom fate dealt very different cards. Just shows how fickle lady luck can be.

An interesting find NF.

You could almost say to the point where “fate” in these circumstances can be measured in millimetres, the difference in receiving a wound could be a “Blighty” one or being recorded as KIA.

It is very sad when you read these obituaries of families totally destroyed by the fighting and yet others come through without a scratch, but such is the cruelty of war.

Indeed so. I suppose that a small crumb of comfort is the fact that the parents of the Restorick boys had both passed away before learning of their sons' fate. Not the case for so many other mothers and fathers of course.
