I am researching Francis M. Welker who was born May 1st 1888 in Lebanon, Kansas USA.  He ran away to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in 1914 and joined the CEF 188th Battalion Bugle Band on Dec. 30th 1915.  He fought in France until his death with the 5th Battalion on September 3rd 1918.  He is buried in Ligny-St. Flochel British Cemetery in France.  I can't seem to find any additional documents or information about his CEF experience besides his Attestation Paper and the record of his death with the location of burial.  His service number is 886317.

I would like to see if anyone knows any other records that I should be looking for or if anyone can find anything else.  I am especially interested in his Medal Card and see what could have been awarded. I found in an old newspaper article a photo of the 188th Battalion Bugle Band and would be interested if there is a better quality photo of the 188th Battalion. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

His service record can be found here: http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/military-heritage/first-world-war/personnel-records/Pages/item.aspx?IdNumber=288787

The service record (54 pages) in pdf format can be found on the above page beside the line: " Digitized service file - PDF format:"

Alternatively, here is the link to the pdf: http://central.bac-lac.gc.ca/.item/?op=pdf&app=CEF&id=B10215-S045
