Trench art shell id help request

Guest

Recommended Posts

Here are some pics of a fixed charge shell casing trench art vase I just found here in Arkansas, USA. The markings on the base have me stumped as to whose it was and the age. They read: 77 C.A. , M1, 2/940, CP inside a diamond. The engravings on the side are neither signed or dated. It looks to be nickel plated. Unlike any other TA I have seen before. Any help with I D will be appreciated. Thanks.

The 7.7 cm Feldkanone 96 was German field artillery piece during the GW.

The SP in a diamond suggests manufactured at Spandau.

Sorry, but cannot help with other markings.

Regards,

JMB

edit: are you sure that it is CP?

Looks like SP to me too.

Not certain this is German - not that I know a lot about this, but they normally have the month and year on opposite sides of the primer... Happy to be corrected!

Apologies. It is a GP inside the diamond

It might be worth a look with a magnifier.
