steve140968 Posted 20 January , 2005 Share Posted 20 January , 2005 Can anyone please tell me whether a soldier could have been entitled to any other medals other than those stated on his medal index card ? Thanks , Steve .
elliot#1 Posted 20 January , 2005 Share Posted 20 January , 2005 What about the territorial force medal. Some were entitled to the gallantry (obviously). What about the mercantile marine medal?
steve140968 Posted 20 January , 2005 Author Share Posted 20 January , 2005 Thanks Elliot , who would be entitled to the territorial force medal ? Steve .
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 20 January , 2005 Share Posted 20 January , 2005 Awards issued before WW1 wouldn't be on the Card,Nor necessarily those from Post War Campaigns if he had remained serving:such as IGS,GSM.If you are talking of WW1 awards other than on the card You may well find that another Card exists for the other Award, perhaps with the Name spelt differently,or an error with the number, try searching using just the Number or Surname{they dont always include Full Christian name, but just Initial}
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 20 January , 2005 Share Posted 20 January , 2005 , who would be entitled to the territorial force medal ? The TFWM would normally be on the Card,or a seperate card,The Territorial Force Efficiency Medal had seperate Card. The Territorial Force War Medal was awarded to those [Members of the Territorial Force] who were serving in 1914 & had Agreed to serve overseas before September 1914 but didnt go Overseas until after Dec 31st 1915. The efficiency Medal{TFEM/TEM}were Long Service awards for 12 Years In the TF under certain Conditions{which have been posted here on numerous occassions}
steve140968 Posted 20 January , 2005 Author Share Posted 20 January , 2005 Thanks Harry , the soldier concerned served from 1915 - 1918 , so he probably wasn't entitled to any others . However i will follow your advise and make another search , cheers . Steve .
