Guest Posted 1 January , 2019 Posted 1 January , 2019 I found this framed image of this Canadian soldier Herbert Player, killed in action in 1916 at Hill 70, while serving in the 209th Battalion. I find it sad that it was discarded and laying in a corner of an antique store in Reno Nevada. So my son said we should buy it and keep his memory alive.
nigelcave Posted 1 January , 2019 Posted 1 January , 2019 (edited) I think that this is your man. https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/562642/player,-herbert/ Rather sad - and he got around a bit, despite his young age - UK, California and Canada, not to mention France (and possibly Belgium). Note that he was (according to the CWGC) serving in the 10th Battalion CEF when he was killed and that he has a known grave. An only son ... RIP Edited 1 January , 2019 by nigelcave
