Mangoman Posted 31 December , 2018 Posted 31 December , 2018 I have just established that my great uncle first served in 'B' RAMC before being sent to Officer Training Unit and then gaining a commission in the Territorial Fotrce with the 4th Wiltshire Regiment. I have done a Google search but have come up with nothing with reagrds to 'B' RAMC. I am trying to establish where 'B' RAMC was based? Would my great uncle have been in training with the RAMC or serving abroad? Could 'B' mean 2nd Company RAMC? All suggestions gratefully received.
sotonmate Posted 31 December , 2018 Posted 31 December , 2018 M I wonder if the letter after these soldiers names is a reference to their group within the OTU.
Ron Clifton Posted 31 December , 2018 Posted 31 December , 2018 A, B and C Companies of the RAMC were Depot companies, involved in recruit training and stationed at Aldershot in 1914. It was not the same as 2 Company although 1, 2 and 3 Companies RAMC were also based at Aldershot. Ron
