Remembering today Matthew Ormrod - Private 3/14845, 49th R.D. Bn, Training Reserve, who died on 30 December 1918, aged 20, and is buried in Ashton-in-Makerfield (St Thomas) Churchyard (Grave Ref. New. 115).

 

Matthew was the son of William and Annie Ormrod, of Bramwell Street, Parr, St Helens, and the St Helens Roll of Honour records that he died of Pulmonary TB in Eccleston Hall Sanatorium.

 

Matthew's brother, James Richard Ormerod, also died during the First World War, as a Prisoner of War, and is buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery, Germany.
