Pollexfen Posted 28 December , 2018 Share Posted 28 December , 2018 I wonder if anyone can give me any advice on how to progress my research further in respect of Lieutenant Charles Anthony Lewis, an Old Boy of my former school, who died on 17 December 1918 at Corfu. He is shown in the CWGC record as serving with H.M.S.Egmont (which as far as I can gather was a land based unit based at Malta). He was in the Hood Battalion of the RND from the outset of the War and came through Antwerp and the Dardenelles where as well as being wounded suffered greatly from Dysentry which may have weakened his health. His service record with the RND runs out in 1917 and the only other tantalising piece of information I have about him is that he was according to a school report in a souvenir publication, employed in the Admiralty Intellegence Service. Any suggestions for how to find more about this aspect would be appreciated. Many thanks
horatio2 Posted 28 December , 2018 Share Posted 28 December , 2018 (edited) A pre-WW1 RNVR rating enrolled into No.1 Company of Mersey Division RNVR in 1912. His post-RND officer service (i.e. after 24 April 1918) is on this RNVR record - http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7720996 His two RND records, as rating and officer, until April 1918 - http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7282135 and http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7278961 Edited 28 December , 2018 by horatio2
