Search ‘Divisional Gallantry Cards’ As with all printed ephemera survival tends to be haphazard. One of the problems is that these cards tended to be a consolation instead of a medal, therefore depended on the attitude of the recipient. They were also given as a recognition of a more substantive award. Not commonplace but not especially rare. A nice thing to have especially with a family connection. Ken
matteyre Posted 21 December , 2018 Author Posted 21 December , 2018 Thanks for this. He was killed in 1918 after transferring to the RAF in a flying accident , won the MM whilst an engineer, and his widow was the first person to live in our house. The certificates were left in the loft.
