I am trying to find out information about my great grandfather Charles Alexander Shaw Page of the 2nd Battalion Middlesex Regiment DS0 MC. I have found  a previous  comment on this forum which suggested that his war records were held by the MOD but I am unsure about how to find out more.

Thank you Harry. This is very helpful. My mother has this obituary and the links are lovely to see. His face was badly injured by shrapnel but he had a happy second career as a vicar.

Hi Godot,

The index of long numbers held by the National Archives (file WO 338/15/1) appears to show him with a post war admin number of P/55291

In the index of files that the MoD released that would seem to make him...

How to go about getting a copy of the (probably heavily weeded) file is linked in post #2. If needed, there is a help desk phone number here. Contrary to the general advice, I understand that as he was born over 110 years ago the MoD would waive the need for a copy death certificate.

Regards

Chris

Thank you so much Chris. I couldn’t find this when I looked. I will follow this up.

I have other photographs of your great grandfather- when he was recovering from wounds sustained in the Aisne Battle of 1918 in a German Hospital. I have  sent you a PM.

Information about his capture and POW camp to be found here
