No info sadly but what a great collection. Obviously range from 1915 to later model tanks ? 1917/1918. Do you think they are one mans collection looks like an artillery man?

Thanks for posting them. SG

Spectacular - some of the photos look like the set of War Horse!. Interesting medal on the right of his Iron cross; it looks similar to the Pour Le Merite, but that is worn around the neck.

It's the Bavarian War Merit cross with swords and crown. Lovely photos.

Some of these pics were commercial and quite commonly sent home by soldiers; the early male tank for example has to be the most photographed pic of the war.  Another is the littered road of abandoned Italian artillery in Italy.  Another scene appears to be an Evangelical church in Transylvania; eastern Romania today.  I agree the owner must have been a member of a heavy artillery batterie.

Leutnant Felix Richers (last pic in post #3) is now buried in the German concentration cemetery in Neuville St.Vaast, France.

Roel could you confirm which unit he was with. As I have him as:

Foot Artillery Regt 15  or 75. II/169 would this be correct.

Hi,

Felix Richers started out with FAR 76 where he was promoted to Leutenant d. Reserve and was killed in action as officer of II/169 on 2nd Oct. 1915 at Gommecourt.

Remarkable detail about Felix: he was from Sao Paulo, Brasil.

A child of German settlers, born in 1893, who went back to fight for the old fatherland.

His father was Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Richers, born in Lüneburg, Lower Saxony, emigrated to Brasil in 1877.
