I'm trying to find out which battalion 2/Lt (later,Lt, Capt, Major) James Ian Simpson was serving with when he won the Military Cross.  Medal Roll and MIC do not mention battalion. Can you help?

"Gazette Issue 29584. M.C. His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to confer the Military Cross in recognition of gallantry and devotion to duty in the field. For conspicuous gallantry during a raid on the enemy's trenches. Although discovered, the raid was pushed home and about ten of the enemy accounted for. 2nd Lieutenant Simpson, with a N.C.O. were cut off, but fought their way out of the enemy trench, taking a prisoner on the way. While withdrawing 2nd Lieutenant Simpson found a badly wounded man and carried him back 200 yards under fire. Gazette Date:16/05/1916"

Excellent Chris, thank you very much. I am sure I have the annotated National Archive MC pdf somewhere but can't find it. I had the citation but not the detail. Thanks again, appreciated.
