RFC Squadron location help

Recommended Posts

I would like help locating RFC 28 Squadron in November 1916 and RFC 59 T.S. May/June 1917. I am fairly sure 59 T.S. was at East Boldre late in 1917 but am having difficulty locating it in Spring 1917. Thanks very much for any assistance

Hi there,

If it is of any help I can offer the attached extract from Fighter Squadrons of the RAF and their Aircraft by John Rawlings, Macdonald 1969.

Regards

Roger

Thanks Roger. It Is of help. The airman I seek was later posted to the 22 sq. and the 28 sq. served as a nucleus of the 22nd.

Hopefully someone can help with my where was the 59 T.S. sq.? Thanks again

My pleasure. 59 Sqn proper is discussed in the companion Bomber Squadrons volume. They’re weighty tomes, I’ll check for any references to the TS and report back.

Cheers

Roger

59 Training Squadron was formed in GOSPORT in early 1917 from parts of 28 Squadron it was then based at YATESBURY from end of April 1917 until about October 1917.
