hmsk212 Posted 30 November , 2018 Share Posted 30 November , 2018 Hi Came across the following postcard that may be of interest to 25 Squadron fans. Prisoner of War Camp photograph shows Lieutenant James Haywood Wensley ( pilot ) and Lieutenant Arthur William Matson ( observer ) who were captured on 18th March 1918. They had been flying DH4 number A2171 on a Photo Recon Mission when their engine failed. Steve

Guest Posted 31 August , 2019 Share Posted 31 August , 2019 Thankyou Steve, would you be able to point me in the direction of finding out a little more of my grand fathers time whilst in RAF Lieut James Haywood Wensley, I was told he was a POW in Japan I believe. He started his Flying career in Canada and then moved back to England where he continued to serve. Mandy

charlie962 Posted 31 August , 2019 Share Posted 31 August , 2019 J H Wensley has 2 record Index Cards in the ICRC PoW files here: There are three Backing sheets available which you can enter into the box on the right: PA 21378, PA 22846, PA 26538 His RAF Officer's service record is available at the National Archives or on Find myPast (subscription site) This document gives you a fair bit of info (courtesy RAF Museum) but the back of the page doesn't seem to be accessible ?
