Lt Ronald Saxton White (908066) RFC

58 Div Mule

I've been doing a bit of research into the above.

Born in Charlwood, Surrey in 1892,  moved to Canada and served with the NWMP before returning to the UK with the Canadians. Obtained his flying licence in Acton and moved to France with 2 Sqn RFC.

Date of death recorded as 27.10.17, buried at St Pol Communal Cemetery.

Commemorated on Horley War Memorial, Surrey.

Conflicting reports of him having been killed in action or as a result of an accident. Also, what sort of aircraft would he have been flying.

Any help gratefully received. His brother was awarded a posthumous VC in 1918 commanding submarine E14.

Chris, David and Diane,

Many thanks for your help.

Not sure if RJS White would have seen active service with 16 or 2 Squadron. Guess Squadron Diaries is the next step?

Thanks again.

I've been looking into RJS White a bit more. Looks as though he went to Eton and served in the Officer Training Corps (EOTC). Takes me back to my days of listening to The Jam...

May have gone to Canada, Duncan BC, in 1911 to join his eldest brother Frank Saxton White.

Seems to have been wounded with 2 Squadron RFC, in Feb 17, can't find any reference to him being wounded with 78 Canadians.

Any clues as to the whereabouts of 2 Sqn war diaries\ combat reports?
