Forfeiture of Medals - Reason?

Private 2141/330376 Herbert McKeon, of the 9th Bn. King's Liverpool Regt. has the following entries for his 1914-15 Star and for his British War and Victory medals:

"Medals forfeited under Art.1236.B of the Pay Warrant as amended by A.O. 298 of 1920"

Can anyone explain this for me?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming he wasn't executed, it must have been for one of the following reasons

(x) Having been convicted by the civil power of ___ or of an offence comitted before enlistment
(xi) For misconduct
(xii) Having been sentenced to penal servitude
(xiii) Having been sentenced to be discharged with ignomony
