Pvt George Henry ( Harry) Pratt

I have just discovered that my grand father Harry Pratt served in the RAMC. I am interested to discover how he came to be in the medical corp when we had a city regiment The Leicesters.

he recieved the three usual medal so I presume he served for the duration.

Ivan,

Welcome to the Forum. Because there were a few 'Harry/Harold Pratts' in the RAMC, you should put some more detail in your query to attract the experts, such as address, age, parents and any service details such as his regimental number. That said, the medical services recruited across the country and coming from Leicester would not necessarily place you in the local infantry. Perhaps he had some medical or other skills (office work?) that recommended him to the RAMC.

Best wishes,

Acknown

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

FYI....His rank is Private - Pte is correct U.K. abbreviation. Pvt is an “Americanism”.
