Remembered today my Great Uncle Lt Robert Hartley Deakin, 45th Squadron Royal Flying Corps (formerly 10th Jats), who was shot down in his Sopwith Strutter in the skies above the Western Front on 22nd July 1917, aged 22. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial in France and the war memorials in Pershore Abbey, Worcestershire, St Andrew’s Church, Toddington, and The Square, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire.
