Remembered Today:

Senior Officer POWs

I am currently re-reading Correlli Barnett's excellent WW2 book "The Desert Generals" and have reached the point where the brilliant Lt-General O'Connor at the peak of his career unfortunately ran into a German patrol and was taken prisoner.

Were any British Western Front Generals captured during the Great War? If not, who was the most senior British officer captured?

In the Retreat from Mons wasn't a Brigadier General captured with the Suffolks?

His name escapes me (no pun intended)

H.C.Rees was captured in 1918, I think he was a Brigadier? I also think he then met the Kaiser and was criticised on repatriation for effectively 'fraternising' - a claim he hotly disputed! His papers are at the Imperial War Museum.
