Shep1265 Posted 7 November , 2018 Share Posted 7 November , 2018 I wonder if anyone can help with this request. The story passed down the family is that my grandfather Joseph Shepherd was sent to Shotley Bridge hospital at the end of the war, having some light injuries & suffering from neuresthenia. Can anyone point me to any sources for details of the hospital at the time. The modern day hospital has no records from this time. Any info about the place & the rehab treatments would be much appreciated. In the family "legend", there is mention of my grandfather "escaping" from Shotley Bridge, and making his own way home to Wigan, only to be taken back to the hospital. Whether there is any truth to this, I have no one left to ask, but I can say that he was certainly a character, so it may well have happened ! sotonmate Posted 15 November , 2018 Share Posted 15 November , 2018 Need a bit more info ! There are over 150 soldiers named Jospeh Shepherd in the Medal Index Card files. Any idea of age, which unit,or a service number,or any campaign medals you can look on the rim of ?
